Chris Levine illuminates Houghton Hall, Autumn 2021
The unequivocal centrepiece of the exhibition is Molecule of Light, a new six-tonne monumental sculpture measuring an imposing 25-metres in height. Designed to come alive as darkness falls, the leviathan-like structure projects light forms and a 3D ambisonic soundscape across the Hall’s West Avenue. Harnessing sunlight by day, the cherry-tipped totem conjures a netherworld by night through laser beams and a spellbinding audio composition by Marco Perry (Bjork).
